Commonly Asked Speed Dating Questions
What age groups do you cater to?
If you check our Events Page
you will see the three common age groups we have.
We are not running our GIRLS 38-49: GUYS 40-54 age grouping anymore.
How soon after registering will I be
sent my invitation?
We send out weekly invitations via email
every Sunday or Monday with details of our upcoming Speed Dating Events.
Sounds
interesting, but I’m nervous about going by myself –
what if I’m a bit shy?
Totally
understandable–
and you’re not the only one. Many people feel like that.
Your host for the evening understands this and will be doing
their best to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease with
a friendly welcome and a free complimentary drink. Once you
mingle in, you’ll soon realise that most people are
just like you. Feeling nervous is actually caused by not knowing
what to expect, which is normal, and is what most people feel
on their first night. As soon as you get through the first
couple of dates, the nerves will calm down and you’ll
start to relax and enjoy yourself. Before long you’ll
realise just why speed dating is so popular!
What sort of people will I meet?
People just like you. Average normal singles who genuinely
want to meet someone. There are no corny or sleazy pick up
lines here. Most of our participants are busy professional
people who value their spare time. They appreciate the benefits
speed dating has to offer and enjoy meeting similarly aged
singles in a safe, comfortable, friendly and dignified manner.
Speed dating is still a relatively new idea, so you’ll
be meeting the type of people who are willing to try out new
things before the rest of society catches on.
Are there always equal numbers of men
and women?
We book an equal number of
men and women for each event. In fact, we ask that if you
cannot make it on the evening, you let us know as early as
possible so we can fill your space. Occasionally someone can’t
make it and fails to let us know, so from time to time there
might be slightly uneven numbers; however, this is easily
managed and shouldn’t spoil your speed dating experience.
How
many people will I meet at an Adelaide Speed Dating Event?
At each Adelaide Speed Dating Event
we generally have approx 15 guys and 15 girls. We have run events of
up to 25 of each guys and girls, but found that it can be a bit too much and exhausting
for some customers on the night.
What time does
the event start and finish?
Our research shows that singles tend to be busier later in the week and over the weekend,
so most of our
Adelaide Speed Dating Events are held Wednesday or Thursday. We do also run events on Friday and Saturday night.
The evening starts at 7.30pm,
before the actual Speed Dating begins at 8pm.
We take 2 short breaks throughout the evening.
One break nibbles are brought out,
the other one you will receive your complimentary drink.
We generally finish around 10:30,
depending on how many people we have at the event.
What should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel comfortable. We recommend smart, casual
dress – remember, first impressions count. Some people
come straight from work, so you might see a suit or two.
How long will it take before I get my matches?
You will be notified within 24 hrs.
Will my contact details be given out to other people?
Definitely not! Your details will only be sent out to the
people you have indicated you would like to see again and
ticked a ‘Yes’ to on your card.
We take our Speed Dating here in Adelaide just as seriously as you. Why is
being local better? Read all about us

What
should I talk about?
Most common questions include ‘What do you do
for a living?’, or ‘What do you
do for fun?’ Try thinking of some different
and unusual questions to make you stand out from all the other
singles. Questions like ‘What is your worst
habit?’, or ‘If you could be
any animal in the world, what would it be and why?’
can lead to some interesting conversations. Humour is always
a good ice breaker, but above all, be yourself.
We suggest that you don’t
talk about yourself too much or discuss ex lovers as this
can be seen as a BIG turn off. Six minutes
isn’t a long time, so make sure you give the other person
a chance to speak! Remember, if you’re genuinely
interested in other people, they’re more likely to be
interested in you.
In order to help make the
event enjoyable for everyone, we ask that you be polite and
well mannered to all your fellow participants. No foul language
or sexual references are to be used, nor is there to be any
excessive consumption of alcohol. We also request that you
do not ask your dates any personal questions during the event:
such as home address, phone number or place of employment.
What
if I don’t have a credit card?
No problems. You can simply pay by Direct Debit.
